WHAT WE DO

Wabi Sabi was founded in 1997 as a Japanese design company making and installing Japanese interiors

For over 25 years we have been making and supplying Japanese interiors including Japanese shoji screens, tatami mats and futons and over this time we have been using Japanese tools and techniques to make our joinery and furniture.

We have been asked many times over the years whether we could provide an introduction to the use of these Japanese tools and so was born the idea of Sane Planing

We are a two man team who have been working together for over 15 years.

Andrew Juniper – Founded Wabi Sabi with his Japanese partner, Kuniko, and then worked with a Japanese woodworker for several years before taking on his own apprentices. Author of Wabi Sabi The Japanese art of Impermanence

Ivan Cardwell – Graduate of Chichester Furniture College where he also returned to teach. Ivan has spent time in Japan under the tutelage of renowned artist and woodworker Kenji Komatsu and loves the opportunity to share his passion for Japanese craft and tools
